Doors for the newest Iconic Home, a premier virtual show house from AD and Black Interior Designers, Inc. (BID, Inc.), officially open today, October 26th. The online showcase, which is now in its third installment, sees some of the design industry’s top Black talent come together to imagine a wholly original home for the modern age.
This year, the designers were challenged to consider multigenerational living when creating the dwelling. As Amy Astley, AD’s global editorial director and US editor in chief, previously shared: The subject matter is particularly relevant as more families of multiple generations and various ages find themselves living under the same roof. The Iconic Home shows that this can not only be done practically, but beautifully as well.
Lagos-based architect Tosin Oshinowo designed a modernist residence for the show house, and eight leading Black designers took charge in transforming the interiors into captivating spaces. Throughout the property, participants highlight the latest ideas and innovations defining the ways in which a home can serve residents in all stages of life—from young children to older adults.
Rendered by The Boundary and presented by Genesis Motor America and Sub-Zero Wolf, the photorealistic home is now on full display. Below, AD shares a sneak peek of every room inside the exemplary abode.
